Simulations can be managed in the Location Planning module.<img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/614de127-4410-4946-a1a4-4eaf9466486b">Here you can&nbsp;<ul><li>Create a new simulation&nbsp;</li><li>Save your simulations (over overwrite an existing simulation)</li><li>Manage your saved simulations:<ul><li>Load your existing simulation (previously saved on your user or shared to your user)</li><li>Share your simulations with other users on your platform</li><li>E​dit simulation names</li><li>Change the baseline of saved simulations</li><li>R​emove simulations&nbsp;</li><li>Archive simulations</li></ul></li></ul>The Location Planning module is based upon a 'active simulation' concept. This means that each user makes his own simulations, independent of each other, where he or she simulates the network changes that he or she wants.Whenever you access the Location Planning module, the active simulation that contains your last network modifications is automatically loaded. You then have the option to:&nbsp;<ul><li>Work in that same active simulation that contains your last modifications and save the changes as a new simulation or overwriting the old</li><li>Start from scratch with a new simulation</li><li>Work on another saved simulation on your account by loading it back in.</li></ul><hr><h3>Creating a new simulation</h3><img class="image_resized" style="width:46.23%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/2ffdb92d-1f3c-491c-9d23-efc73a995145"> Click on the left sheet icon to start a new simulation from scratch (and erase the changes from your active simulation). In the next window choose the baseline period you want to make your simulations on. Your consultant can install which baseline periods to make visible here.You can easily verify whether you're in an active simulation where you already made some changes to your baseline network or not by checking the grey 'simulation overview' bar or the results section below the map. There would be a positive or negative count next to the number of the network locations in the grey bar, and the results section is blurry or visible. If no changes were executed the screen would look like the image below. &nbsp;<img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/f32ee0c9-a99b-4d01-847a-5eaad944b07d"> &nbsp;<hr><h3>Saving simulations</h3><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/47b58642-e9db-4a35-bf74-8db31f8a1527"> Whenever you make changes to your network in this module - whether you're in an active, loaded or newly created simulation - you need to click on the save button to persist the changes. You have 2 options then:&nbsp;<ul><li>Save it as a new simulation by giving it a (new) name and clicking save.</li><li>Overwrite a previously saved simulation by selecting that simulation name.</li></ul>TIP! Make sure to save your simulation in a calculated state! Otherwise you cannot load the simulation results in other modules.<hr><h3>Managing your saved simulations</h3>&nbsp;Click on the folder icon to go to your saved simulations.<img class="image_resized" style="width:37%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/91fbbee6-7d8f-4690-be05-3280dda79d73">From the Manage simulations screen you will be able to do a couple of things:<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/9a678d5f-a157-4886-a79e-1622eac490ea"></figure><h4>&nbsp;</h4><h4>&nbsp;</h4><h4>Loading an existing simulation</h4>In the overview you'll see the list of all saved or shared simulations on your user account.&nbsp;For each simulation, you'll see next to the simulation name also which location changes were made, which baseline period it's build upon and the date of the last update. The simulations that contain a date in it are shared with you by another user or by us.&nbsp;To open/load a simulation, hover over the location name (until it appears in red) and click on it.<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/3b291884-3909-48af-82e0-bf117aa46c5a"></figure>&nbsp;In line with the active simulation concept explained above, when loading a simulation it immediately becomes an active simulation. In other words, the changes you make to the active simulation are not automatically saved!TIP: Use the search bar to find your simulations faster.&nbsp;<h4>Sharing simulations</h4>To share one or multiple simulations with other users, select the simulation(s) first by activating the checkboxes. When you've selected one or multiple simulations the following buttons will appear:<img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/b80ec3dc-fd49-4afa-93e5-87d1f926ee32">Click the copy simulation button and select the users who you want to share this with. Select apply to finalize your sharing process.&nbsp;Other users will receive an in-app notification and an email once a simulation has been shared. The simulation will now appear in their list of simulations, together with the date of sharing. Be aware that shared simulations still need to be calculated on the individual user's accounts.&nbsp;Remark: Please note that if you make any changes to a simulation that has been shared, your changes will not be reflected in the same simulation on the other user account. You need to save and share it again if you do!<h4>&nbsp;</h4><h4>Editing simulation names</h4>Click on the pencil icon that appears when you hover over a simulation name.<img class="image_resized" style="width:24.9%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/b25e1fbe-ecec-4bb4-ad5d-6baae4d94295">&nbsp;Enter your new name in the white checkbox. Confirm your changes by pressing enter or clicking outside of the window.<figure class="image"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/0468500f-66eb-4790-90d2-6c901811d190"></figure><h4>&nbsp;</h4><h4>&nbsp;</h4><h4>Changing the baseline of your simulation</h4>You can also change the baseline period upon which your simulations are built; this might come in handy after each competition update where a new baseline period is created with the latest network changes and you want your simulation(s) reflected on the most recent baseline period.First select the simulation(s) by activating the checkbox(es). Next select the change baseline button that appears: &nbsp;<img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/20f463f2-118b-4214-bd7b-b789f1fad364">You can now select another baseline period. Select apply to confirm the change.<img class="image_resized" style="width:76.53%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/9641286a-5a4b-4377-a0bd-10828d0f6eb0">Remark! Be aware that when you change the baseline period of your simulation, there is no automatic check on double locations (e.g. you added missing competition in your simulation and the new baseline to which you changed the simulation includes the missing competition)&nbsp;<h4>Removing simulations</h4>First select the simulation(s) that you want to delete by activating the right checkbox(es). Next select the remove button that appears:&nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:71.23%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/a1fe5275-4fd3-4306-b29d-a77d9a635398">You will always have the screen below asking if you're sure to delete this. Press yes to confirm your decision.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:33.51%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/cba1324c-ad2b-4ad1-abbc-278475c9e1fe"></figure>Remark!&nbsp;Note that you can only remove simulations from your account only and that they can't be retrieved.&nbsp;<h4>Archiving simulations</h4>Archiving doesn't mean deleting the simulation(s) from your platform. Archived simulations are stored in a different place that requires less from our databases than unarchived simulations. This can significantly improve the performance of your platform in case there are many saved simulations. In the near future it might happen that for heavily loaded platforms (&gt;100 simulations), the simulations that are not edited in a long time automatically get archived. This functionality can then be used to restore them back to your simulation overview.First select the simulation(s) that you want to archive by activating the right checkbox(es). Next select the archive button that appears:&nbsp;<img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/69d35e2e-b33e-47a1-a05c-e70b8952ecf4">You'll still need to confirm your decision.<figure class="image image_resized" style="width:36.57%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/d323a6ab-68e9-40bf-8a52-840ad0a9991f"></figure>You can find your archived simulations by pressing archived simulations in the top right corner:<img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/b8e7808a-d41f-45d1-8604-6641292b5e84">From your archived simulations overview, you can either OR restore the simulation (1) , OR remove (2) it.<img class="image_resized" style="width:92.59%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/c06fde9f-b48f-44df-9a75-0751e7c3d4fb">

To find interesting potential search areas, you will need to explore the areas that are most promising and relevant to you. Here are some guidelines to help you find those.<ul><li>First, go to the Location Planning module <img class="image_resized" style="width:15.05%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/eec5620e-fec6-4a64-b11f-46a1c8ad8f2a"></li><li>Then, go to the map layers <img class="image_resized" style="width:2.76%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/522f6693-c21e-4e82-bb9e-deebd01e0046"> (upper right corner) and select the following layers:<ul><li>Car passage: This layer shows the number of cars passing per week on each road segment.</li><li>Local activity &lt; 30min: This layer shows local activity that mainly attracts visitors with a duration less than .30 minutes as dots on the map. The size of the dots are in line with the number of visitors. This is potential that is mainly relevant for the charge&amp;go segment.</li><li>Local activity 30min - 2hours: This layer shows local activity that mainly attracts visitors with a duration between 30 minutes and 2 hours. The size of the dots are in line with the number of yearly visits. This is potential that is mainly relevant for the visit&amp;charge segment.</li><li>Locations: This layer shows the charging stations in the country as clickable markers on the map.&nbsp;</li><li>Parking: This layer shows the majority of the current parking areas as purple areas on a map.</li><li>Google Satellite: Shows a nice background layer.</li></ul></li></ul><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:93.92%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/90851c1b-a600-46c2-8b50-97b629fd21ad"></figure>By analyzing areas with many local activity with short visits (&lt;30min) and high car passage (for ultrafast chargers) or, many local activity&nbsp;with short visits (30min - 2hours)&nbsp;(for fast chargers) you will be able to identify the most relevant areas to set up a new location. Beware that environments where a lot of competition is active, will be less interesting.&nbsp;Once you have identified interesting test areas, you can start testing locations in&nbsp;as described <a href="https://kb.chargeplanner.ai/en/article/how-to-test-a-specific-new-charging-location-on-the-predicted-potential" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">here</a>.Note, consult all the details of the methodology in our <a href="https://kb.chargeplanner.ai/en/article/technical-reports" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">technical report</a>.<figure class="media"><div data-oembed-url="https://youtu.be/2SPmnyBS4GE"><div style="position: relative; padding-bottom: 100%; height: 0; padding-bottom: 56.2493%;"><iframe src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2SPmnyBS4GE" style="position: absolute; width: 100%; height: 100%; top: 0; left: 0;" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div></div></figure>

Car passage is considered location characteristics that you can 'score' correctly for existing and simulated locations.It represents the passage volume relevant for a location, by car on the different road segments from which the charging stations can be accessed. Relevance in terms of location visibility is too limited here since charging stations are visited by the use of mobile apps.<h3>&nbsp;</h3><h3>1. The default passage configuration of locations</h3>The application uses an automated snapping algorithm to determine which roads are relevant for the location. This way these location characteristics will already have a default value when you open a new location in the simulation. We refer to this as the default passage configuration of a location. It is up to the user to confirm the default passage configuration or to update and confirm.The total passage volume of a location is by default unconfirmed. The applications already suggest which road segments are 100% relevant for the location. So it's the users' task to or (1) validate and confirm this default configuration or (2) to update the default configuration and apply the changes by confirming.<hr><h3>2. Where to check the default passage configuration of locations</h3>&nbsp;The default passage configuration can be verified in 3 modules: Data Management (only for users with access), Marketing Efforts and Location Planning. The flow to verify is more or less the same for all 3 modules.1. First make sure you have selected the right data period. The default passage configuration of locations might change per period (due to updates the datapacks and sometimes the snapping algorithm)2. Find the location logo on the map. Click on the location marker to open the pop-up window. In general you'll find a mini-map on top of the pop-up where you can see the connection of the location to the road segment. There are 3 possible map layers to display here: connection road network (default), Car passage. Click on the car passage to check which road segments are included for the default passage config (indicated in green). Consult the legend to understand the colours.<img class="image_resized" style="width:58.02%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/29818a0a-f3f6-4233-802f-bc78113dbd7c">&nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:57.8%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/9ed97acb-68ca-4004-a768-e110866b383a">This map layer indicates which road segments are considered (100%) relevant by the algorithm. If no road segments were considered all segments will be red. If you then scroll down a bit in the pop-up you'll see the exact number of the default passage configuration.&nbsp;<img class="image_resized" style="width:57.74%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/59ab1d0a-bf53-42a4-bf8e-a9603e2a33cc"><blockquote>Remark. Depending on the module you are doing this, the pop-up might look a little different &gt; Marketing Efforts vs. Data Management &amp; Location Planning; This is because in the last two modules you also have the option to update the default configuration &amp; confirm the new number, see also below.</blockquote><hr><h3>3. Updating and/or confirming the passage configuration of a location</h3>This is only possible in the Data Management and Location Planning modules.<h4>Real location changes in the baseline nework vs. simulation locations</h4><ul><li>use Data Management for real passage edits &amp; confirmations (on all user accounts since saved to the baseline period)</li><li>use Location Planning for simulation passage edits, mainly important for new locations (only on your user account and not saved to the baseline period)</li></ul>To update the default configuration, go further from the last step (2.) in the section above.3. Click on the cogwheel icon left of the exclamation mark. This will open the passage configuration window.<img class="image_resized" style="width:64.87%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/9fcaabac-c622-47ae-8d93-71f6db082fcd">The passage configuration window offers you an overview of which roads are considered relevant to the selected location in terms of passage. This window allows you to (1) confirm the default passage configuration or (2) update the passage configuration by including/excluding roads and finetuning the relevance %If you wish to update the total passage volume of the selected location, you can do so by including road segments, excluding road segments, and/or edit road segment relevance % one by one.&nbsp;The rules we recommend to take into account are:<ul><li>Do not select two subsequent road segments. You want to avoid that the same passers-by are counted double</li><li>If a competitor of you is located more closely to the primary road axis, you can make a corrections so that only a fraction if the passage is considered relevant for your location. We recommend to:<ul><li>Consider only 40% of the passage as relevant in case 1 competitor is located more closely to the big axis</li><li>Consider only 20% of the passage as relevant in case 2 competitors are located more closely to the big axis</li><li>Consider only 10% of the passage as relevant in case 3 or more competitors are located more closely to the big axis</li></ul></li></ul>In case you want to adjust the default passage configuration:<ol><li>On the mini-map, zoom in and click on the exact number of the road segment you want to update (the road segment will turn blue, which means it's now selected to make changes)</li><li>Use the slider to decide whether to include or exclude.</li><li>Define the relevance for location correction factor (see above)</li><li>Update the total relevant passage by clicking on the update passage button</li><li>Consult the total relevant passage number after making the change(s)</li></ol>​<img class="image_resized" style="width:89.33%;" src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/3699dfce-deff-406f-8abc-ad5fd6748094">You now have the option to (de)select another road segment. After the passage situation is completely corrected according to your estimations, confirm the updated passage configuration by pressing 'confirm and exit'.After confirming, the orange warning icon will have disappeared in the location pop-up window. This means that the total passage volume of the location has been confirmed (at least for the simulation respectively (Location Planning) or for the baseline network (Data Management))​<img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/d70deaa2-640a-4ee8-beff-c83a92013434">Now scroll down in the location pop-up &amp; press apply to apply the changes. In Location Planning you will still need to calculate the simulation results.<blockquote>Remark!Note that you cannot confirm passage configurations in bulk. Passage configuration must be done location by location. However, you are not required to confirm the default passage configuration of (all) locations. The model will calculate with the default values anyway. For new locations it's better to validate and adjust according to your estimations</blockquote>&nbsp;&nbsp;

This session has a finite duration to ensure security. If your session expires, the platform's server recognizes you as no longer authenticated, resulting in a server error when you attempt to access restricted areas or perform actions requiring authentication. However, it can also mean that there is a technical configuration issue in the platform</li><li>Next steps: If the server error automatically disappears again and you experience no further inconvenience, do nothing. Otherwise, refresh and re-login or logout and re-login. If not resolved by then and you are experiencing inconvenience, contact <a href="mailto:support@retailsonar.com">support@retailsonar.com</a></li></ul>&nbsp;<h2>4. 'No location was found' error</h2><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:76.32%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/fefc9d7c-76b7-4aec-9e30-2971e6d3b54c"></figure><ul><li>Meaning: You're testing a new location in Location Planning, you press the 'calculate' button but no results appear in the summary table and you get the message 'No location was found'. This means that the model did not calculate any results</li><li>Next steps: Move your marker a little bit by dropping it again on nearly the same location. Check if this gives a result. Otherwise, contact <a href="mailto:support@retailsonar.com">support@retailsonar.com</a></li></ul>&nbsp;<h2>7. 'No items found' error</h2><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:38.18%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/7d41d9d4-0cfd-4ce3-8e6f-3208d13e9261"></figure><ul><li>Meaning: You're typing a location in the search bar and no items are found</li><li>Next steps: Check your spelling. Test again with the full street name or with the abbreviation if applicable (e.g. Boulevard = Bd). If you still get no results, test it with a different address and report this to <a href="mailto:support@retailsonar.com">support@retailsonar.com</a></li></ul>&nbsp;<h2>8. Empty location performance framework</h2><figure class="image image_resized" style="width:78%;"><img src="https://cdn-assets.productfruits.com/defce295-aad6-4d04-b78d-71fe5e4accd3"></figure><ul><li>Meaning: You are in the Location Performance module and no Location Performance Framework is displayed</li><li>Next steps: Click on the 'select framework' icon and select the option 'Use default framework'. This framework is constructed by your consultant. Don't click on 'Start from scratch'. Otherwise, you will get the empty framework as displayed above. This option is only for super users of the platform who can build their own frameworks.</li></ul>&nbsp;<h2>9. '#NA' or '!!!' values in the Location Performance Framework columns</h2><ul><li>Meaning: Some columns of the Location Performance Framework contain '#NA' or '!!!'.</li><li>Next steps: First try clicking select framework &amp; reload the default framework to make sure you're having the latest framework in front of you. Next apply the most recent baseline period; it could be that the framework is only calculated for the most recent period. If issues remain, contact <a href="mailto:support@retailsonar.com">support@retailsonar.com</a></li></ul>&nbsp;<h2>10.
